Subject:Hello to S. Miriam Shea (Sr. Marie Martin CSJ)
Sr. Miriam Shea was my 5th grade teacher at St. Mark's School in St. Paul, MN in 1960 - 61. She taught a split class - with 5th and 6th grade in the same classroom. I had the fire lit in my soul with the love of history from Sr. Marie Martin. I attended Derham Hall High School and then the University of Minnesota where I majored in history. I have such great memories of her class and her wonderful personality. I remember her reading to our class 'The Borrowers' and C.S. Lewis books. She taught me to love books and how to write book reports. I continue to love history. I have 2 sons who are musicians and one of them graduated from St. John's University with a double major music and history. I lit his fire from the light of Sr. Marie Martin. She also made sure that the girls learned how to play 'Four Square.' I was sad when she left St. Paul for Hawaii, but what a great place to live and work. I am 67 years old and I still often think of the teacher who made the biggest impact on my life and it was Miriam Shea. Please let her know that I am still thinking of her. I continue to be a member of St. Mark's Parish and have been singing in the choir for 22 years. I hope she is well and enjoying retirement. I would appreciate someone passing this information onto Sr. Miriam Shea. Kindest regards, Elizabeth (Missy) Gehlen

I work at Holy Family Catholic Academy near the airport. We are having a career day at the end of January and would like to invite the Sisters to come and share their "career" or life choice. We are noticing the students are becoming disconnected from the order of sisters and don't know what it means to be a NUN. So we would much appreciate the help in educating our Middle School age students on the possible life choice to serve our Lord Jesus Christ. Mahalo for your dedication.
